As the countdown to Christmas gets underway myself and Breda at Abbey Video Productions would like to send all our clients and friends our very best wishes. For many of our clients this is their first Christmas together as a married couple and so we hope it will be extra special and the first of many to come!
As well as all the usual rushing around that comes at this time of year we are also kept busy still with weddings and shows and the usual surge of tape to DVD conversions! It can be a lovely gift at Christmas to receive a DVD of a wedding or a match that took place years ago and was recorded on to the old VHS tape but which hasn’t been seen for a long time because the old machines are now defunct. We recently converted a tape of a wedding that was recorded almost thirty years ago – imagine the memories and nostalgia that must have come flooding back for that couple when they saw their family and friends and all the wedding details having not been able to watch the tape in such a long time! I’m sure there were a few laughs along with the more poignant moments, and it goes to show the investment that having your wedding day recorded can be in the long run.
The weeks around Christmas are such a wonderful time for a wedding. The Christmas trees and decorations provide a lovely finishing touch to venues and the roaring fires and hot drinks on arrival are always so welcome! Family and friends tend to be around a lot more, maybe having time off work and able to relax a bit, which all contributes to the sense of occasion and maybe enables the celebrations to continue that little bit longer!
Of course school show time is in full swing and we have been out recording shows all over Tipperary and Kilkenny for the past couple of weeks. It’s great to see the enthusiasm of the children and I’m sure the teachers and assistants feel that all the hard work has paid off when they see the excitement of the children walking on to the stage to perform in front of their parents and families. A DVD of the school show can be a lovely gift at Christmas and will evoke fantastic memories in years to come.
So once again we’d like to wish all our clients and friends a very happy and peaceful Christmas and hope that you get what you wish for yourselves!
We at Abbey Video find ourselves filming many school and preschool shows and events at this time of year, in every corner of Kilkenny and also further afield in counties Limerick and Tipperary. Even though it is a very busy few weeks we keep on top of things and wherever possible we get the finished DVDs back to the pupils before they finish up for their Christmas holidays.
