Well the Christmas Day celebrations are over and as we wind down and head towards the end of the year we can take a look back at 2016…
One of the highlights of the year for me was winning the Mrs2be Brides’ Choice award for videography. Being shortlisted last year and making it to finalist stage was very exciting but winning the category this year was something special and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank again all the couples who voted for us, and especially Jackie who nominated us. We hope we can continue to provide the same level of customer satisfaction in Tipperary, Kilkenny and further afield in 2017 and beyond!
Of course it’s also a time to look ahead to the future and for newly engaged coupes it’s such an exciting time! This time of year is very popular for engagements and for the first few weeks of January the bookings come in thick and fast! So if you’re planning on getting married on a key date over the next few years such as a bank holiday weekend or around Christmas or the New Year, now’s the time to start making those enquiries! No matter how many weddings they may go to as guests, no day will ever be as amazing as theirs.
The length of time for which a couple are engaged has become shorter. In 2012, most couples were engaged for at least 2 years before getting married. However, last year, the majority waited just 13-18 months.As well as this, almost one in four couples live together for at least five years before walking up the aisle. On average, brides are getting married in their late twenties, while grooms are in their early thirties.
December is now the most popular month to get engaged, with February following behind.
Although up to a quarter of couples shun a church wedding, it is still the most popular venue in which to hold a wedding. In years gone by Churches were the place to get wed now you can get married anywhere you like to a certain extent, and it’s nice for people that are not religious to have this choice.
