Fantastic Wedding DVD

It’s great to have had a local wedding video job in Cashel Tipperary on Friday last after 3 the week before in Kilkenny . John Ryan & Mairead Ryan both local Cashel people tied the knot in style. Hovering over the church was a drone to capture the fantastic views around Cashel and over the Church as Mairead arrived, A quick call to Maireads house that morning to capture it all going on – hair being done, make up being applied, ribbons being put on the cars – it had the hallmarks of a great wedding to come! John lads were at the Church in Cashel nice and early to meet and greet the huge number of guests that had been invited. Mairead was not long behind and She looked stunning, walked up the isle by her father Gerry

The Bridesmaids were on hand to do the last bit of lip gloss and away we went to capture John standing at the top of the aisle awaiting his brides arrival. Fr Jim Purcell our very popular priest in Cashel was giving John some good advice 🙂 After the ceremony we went to a local area with stunning views of the Rock of Cashel for some photographs with Grace McMahon a great photographer from Tipperary who I meet quite a lot at weddings we get on great together and we recommend couples to each other which is a great way to network.

The Abbey Court Hotel was really decked out for the day, the ballroom was splendid looking and of course Ray was there to meet and greet all, its a fantastic hotel and one of my favorites to film weddings in

It was one of those weddings that makes you feel good to be a local wedding videographer in Kilkenny

We’re out again this weekend, so if you’re in Waterford on Friday or Kilkenny on Saturday you might see me there

As a popular wedding videographer here in Kilkenny and covering Tipperary , Carlow, Waterford and all the other towns villages and cities around, it’s fantastic to have been chosen as a finalist for the Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Awards 2016. Over the years I have worked hard to understand the needs of couples who choose me as their wedding videographer for their special day, every couple has different ideas for their wedding video production and I encourage each bride and groom to give me their ideas and what they might like in the final production … after all it’s their day.

Down through the years I have invested both time and money to keep up with the latest cameras, editing software and all the bells and whistles that go along with the job as i feel only the best is good enough for your wedding day.

I don’t use wedding fairs, I have attended 2 in all my time as a wedding videographer, as i feel a lot of the couples that come along on the day often have their wedding suppliers booked before hand, and that can include me! So I work on the “word of mouth” system and it really does work. As you are reading my blog you will see I also depend on my website like any other business, and of course a quick google and you should normally find me at the top of your search both in Tipperary & Kilkenny – I’m working on the other counties as we speak.

Getting back to the Mrs2Be Brides’ Choice Award 2015, every wedding I cover and produce both locally and everywhere else is an Award for me as the feed back I get is truly out of this world and 100% recommendation from Brides & Grooms. So I get Awards every year in my own way when couples contact me after they have viewed their wedding dvd and tell me that not only did they like their dvd but loved it and are so glad to have got a wedding video. So a happy customer is happy days! But of course in saying that the Award would be nice to receive, but we will let the powers that be make that choice, there are a lot of other fantastic videographers around the country and I wish them all the best.

The wedding industry is booming at the moment and next year looks like a bumper year as well. The budgets are still in place of course and rightly so, but I have often said you get what you pay for. Of course you can get your wedding video for 300 euro for the full day but is that all your memories are worth? The average price for the day can be 750+ and I think that’s fair – it often can be an 11 hr day and that’s only the wedding day, editing has to come into play after that. So I would say if your are planning on getting married and having a wedding DVD give time choosing your videographer. You don’t need to pay 900+ unless it’s a 2 man crew with 2 manned cameras, if that is what you need go for it, but I like to film with the “fly on the wall” approach. This way both you and your guests are often unaware of cameras there at all, but of course all the little details get covered, with your guests enjoying themselves and your full day captured in detail.

How To Distribute Your Wedding Video To People Who Couldn’t Attend Your Wedding

Whether we are covering weddings in Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow or Waterford, we understand a wedding day is the most important event in the life of most brides to be. This is perfectly normal, so nobody can blame you for wanting this day to be perfect even in the smallest details. Unfortunately, some of your friends and family members may not be able to join you to celebrate your big day together. Perhaps they are busy, perhaps they travel for business or they are sick. Whatever their reasons for not attending your wedding ceremony, this doesn’t mean they don’t want to see your wedding photos and videos.

These being said, you probably want to find a way to share your wedding video with all people who couldn’t attend your ceremony. Luckily, there are several ways you can do it, without too much hassle. The first method is to set up a YouTube channel and upload your video there, and then share the link with all your friends and family. They would need an internet connection in order to be able to watch your movie.

You also have another option that would enable them to watch the film offline. You can use a file sharing website to upload your file, and then send an email with the download link to all people you want to access your video. They have to download the file, but once they’ve done it, they can watch the video without needing an internet connection. However, this method requires them to have enough storage space on their computer or mobile device to download and store the video.

If you want, you can also upload your video to Facebook. However, you have to check the maximum file size they accept. The other drawback is that your friends need to have a Facebook account in order to be able to access your video. Nonetheless, there are very few people who aren’t on Facebook these days, so this might not be such a big problem. Speaking of Facebook, you could also make use of their live broadcast opportunity to address a few words to all your friends who couldn’t attend it, straight from the venue. You may even want to start your broadcast just before the most important moment of the day, the moment when both of you are going to make your vows.

Last but not least, if you hire a professional photographer and filmmaker for your wedding, you can ask them to create a special page on their website, and upload your photos and videos there. Many photographers offer this service to their clients anyway, so you might even receive it as part of your agreed wedding package.

Whatever method you choose, all people who weren’t able to attend your wedding are going to have access to your videos. They are going to watch you in your most important day, feeling as if they were there, in the same room with you and with all other guests. Modern technology is wonderful, so use it to your advantage!

Over the years how things has changed ….

Hi all, and welcome to this month’s wedding blog. I’m Joe at Abbey Video Productions.

When I started wedding videos here in Tipperary and Kilkenny, the cameras were BIG with a large cassette in. Thankfully, those times have passed and technology has moved on. My new cameras are Sony pxw- x180s. These cameras are so easy to carry, are lightweight and have much more flexibility. They are also much less obtrusive which is very important on a wedding day.

The use of SxS mem cards means less storage space is needed, and drop out from the old VHS tapes are long gone. HIGH quality is very important to me as a videographer here in Tipperary and Kilkenny, along with low lighting. Capability is a must, as no one likes a video light; again these days are gone.

Editing systems : Where do I start? And do you really need to know all the technology of it? Probably not! But let me give you a quick overview. I use two editing systems — Vegas Pro 13 and, of course, the old faithful Pinnacle Studio 14 HD for smaller projects. The editing system is only as good as the camera person: If your shots are not framed right or are shaky, no editing system will fix it 100%. So that’s where expertise in filming comes into play. But, of course, what’s a wedding video without a few nice, gentle special effects. That being said, I don’t like to overdo them, as they look tacky. I have seen some wedding videos with butterflies floating around the screen, or some gold dust falling over the bride as she walks in a park … tacky!

Whats new out there I hear you ask:

Well its not new, but Flash drives with your full wedding along with chapters have now been in for a while I have delivered some weddings on them and the quality is fantastic, but not every household has a TVs with a flash drive slot so the good old DVD is here for a while yet, but the Flash drives will soon be our main format for delivery The reason is that it will allow us to supply your wedding footage in broadcast high definition quality, all my weddings are recorded with the very latest Sony pxw- x180 cameras so its time to make the change and let couples really enjoy better than 100% quality.

While I am based in Tipperary, but I also have a huge clientele in Kilkenny, Carlow, Waterford, Wexford, and everywhere around Ireland, really you could find me anywhere.

Tipperary is, of course, my local area and I love local weddings. It’s great to be asked back to film a wedding for a family that I have all ready worked for. That’s ‘word of mouth’ and the BEST way to do business. Kilkenny is my next area, as it was in the Kilkenny/Carlow area that I filmed one of my first weddings. Only last week, I was in Bagenalstown, Co. Carlow with the reception in Mount Wolseley but, as I said, I love to film. Over the years of filming wedding videos all over Ireland, trends come and go, from the Chocolate Fountain, the sweet cart and now, Light up Letters these letters can say anything you wish, from welcoming your guests to your wedding, to the all important word LOVE .For all couples, their wedding day is a unique and memorable occasion. No matter how many weddings they may go to as guests, no day will ever be as amazing as theirs.

However for guests, a lot of weddings that they go to can feel pretty similar and not that unique at all. Its a short piece of writing for you this week as i’m so busy between, weddings, editing, for every county around especially Tipperary & Kilkenny but its all local work so all is good! But I found this last week and thought it might make some interesting reading, Over the years of filming wedding videos in Tipperary / Kilkenny and all over Ireland I get to see some fantastic wedding days, from the Engagement party right up to when the bride and groom dance the night away with family and friends on the big day. Its a pleasure to be part of a couples wedding day to be among their family’s and friends for quite a number of hours on the day and some times for the Engagement party! But I did write a little about wedding and the way they change over the years but this post touches on the prices, which in these times is a BIG factor with all the costs so have a read and please comment and give me your thoughts.

The web: The web is now the main part and plays a huge part for couples planning their wedding , Google is a great friend to all to find wedding suppliers, get prices, information, and try and get some help with that dreaded speech. Google even has a wedding planning site to help you with your wedding you can see it here , even for us wedding suppliers Google and the web is a powerful tool to have at our fingertips, when you type in wedding video Tipperary orKilkenny I am number one in the Organic search for wedding videos, this I am very proud of ! so get clicking and find you wedding suppler in your local area.They say you can’t put a price on wedded bliss, but €24,000 is a start. Yes, this is the amount that the average couple spent on getting married last year. There are several reasons for this, including the honeymoon, venue and décor. Here are a few other interesting facts about the change in trends for the big day:

Engagement:

The length of time for which a couple are engaged has become shorter. In 2012, most couples were engaged for at least 2 years before getting married. However, last year, the majority waited just 13-18 months.As well as this, almost one in four couples live together for at least five years before walking up the aisle. On average, brides are getting married in their late twenties, while grooms are in their early thirties.

Winter Wedding:

December is now the most popular month to get engaged, with February following behind.Abbey Video have filmed some lovely Weddings over the years, the lovely crisp light, the shadows and the frosty blue skies.The hotels ready for Christmas with their decorations, and of course the mulled wine.

Walking Up the Aisle:

Although up to a quarter of couples shun a church wedding, it is still the most popular venue in which to hold a wedding. In years gone by Churches were the place to get wed now you can get married anywhere you like to a certain extent, and it’s nice for people that are not religious to have this choice.

Speeches:

Even though it is still the main preference to have the speeches after the meal, popularity is increasing for having the speeches before the meal as everyone is more relaxed and can enjoy their dinner better. Speeches they say should be like a mini skirt… long enough to cover the essentials but short enough to keep you interested, and it’s true, people do tend to want to get up after a large feed and walk around a bit before the dancing starts, but if your speeches go on too long it’s hard to keep them entertained.The typical number of guests sitting for the meal is 101-150, with an approximate price range of €35 – €60 per head. ( I remember doing a video a few years back and there were 380 sitting down for the meal!

Reception Venue:

Although hotels remain the top choice for couples as their wedding reception venue, other choices are available and popular among couples. These include country houses, which host more than 20 percent of Irish weddings, as well as restaurants. We have some fantastic hotels here in Tipperary with the likes of Clonmel Park, Hotel Minella Clonmel, Raheen House, then just over the border in Kilkenny you have The Newpark Hotel, the Ormond Hotel, and a lot more.

Whether it be a Tipperary wedding, a Kilkenny wedding, or where ever you’re getting married, it goes without saying that your wedding day is an extremely special occasion and one of the biggest days of your life. Of course, for all brides and grooms, the actual wedding ceremony is the most important part, but sharing your special day with your closest friends and family is also a vital element for a lot of people. It is becoming commonplace for many brides and grooms to recognise the love and friendship of their guests with a small token of their appreciation.
There are literally hundreds of different ideas for wedding favours that you can use, and below is just a small selection. All of these are becoming more frequent at Irish weddings in places such as Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow and Waterford. You don’t have to break the bank.
Weddings can be very expensive occasions, and some things such as videography are best handled by a professional such as Abbey Video Productions, due to my extensive experience and knowledge of all the local and distant hotels and my years of wedding videography.

However, when it comes to things such as invitations and wedding favours, there’s no need to hire an expensive wedding planner as it really is the thought that counts. A sweet idea, one of the most popular wedding favours that won’t decimate your wedding budget is sweets and in particular, Love Hearts. They have obvious connotations with love and togetherness and you can customise the wrappers to include your own personal message. Other sweet companies also offer a similar service and, although Love Hearts are arguably the most appropriate, it really is up to the bride and groom to choose which sweets to have – possibly their own favourites.

Favour envelopes are another increasingly popular idea, and anything can be placed in them and left as a surprise for your guests

Just filmed 2 wonderful wedding videos in Kilkenny last week-end, both quite local to me. Nicola Gleeson from Killenaule, just a few kms from Cashel, was married to John Cleere, also from Killenaule, in Moyglass Church and the reception was held in the Kilkenny Ormonde Hote. The next day I was in Kilkenny city itself with Kelly and Brandon and their church was St Mary’s Cathedral in the heart of Kilkenny city with reception in Langtons Hotel Kilkenny. This year I am booked for a large amount of wedding videos in the Killenaule and Mullinahone areas with Kilkenny and Tipperary being my main wedding video catchment area. I will also be back to film another wedding in Moyglass / Killenaule this Friday!

At both of these weddings the speeches were held before the meal and I have noticed of late this trend is getting more common. I understand with hotels they have to keep the meal hot while the wedding speeches are being conducted, but from feedback from couples 70% now want their speeches before the meal. This way all involved in the speaking can relalx and enjoy their meal knowing it’s done and dusted! It’s a great idea for people that are not used to public speaking. Of course from the hotel’s side of things this can be a nightmare! The bride and groom tell the hotel they will only be 15 minutes but I have see this 15 mins drag on to an hour! The poor chef is doing his best to stop the veg from sticking to the pans, so i can understand why the hotels frown on this! If your speeches are going to be before the meal tell the hotel this and stay to an agreed time-frame – this way your guests won’t be eating cold food and all will be happy.

The traditional scenario of having the speeches after the meal is fine as well, but think of the groom & best man and also the dads all sitting there eating their meal thinking the speeches have to be done soon – it can and will put them off their meal.

Getting back to recent weddings: Saturday’s wedding reception was in Langtons Hotel in Kilkenny. The couple arrived at the hotel after the photo shoot in Butler House and Kilkenny Castle with their photographer John Delaney Photography. Sean, the manager at the hotel who is a fantastic guy, was happy to see the couple arrive at the hotel early as their speeches were being held before the meal, so this worked out great for all concerned.

Friday’s wedding was in Moyglass and the reception was in the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel. Again after the church we went to Butler House and Kilkenny Castle for the family photos and their photographer was local man Eamonn McGee from Thurles in Tipperary. Once again when we arrived to the Kilkenny Ormonde Hotel every thing was done with the photographs and this is what the hotel wants when the speeches are before the meal. The couple had time to mingle with their guests, whereas often they don’t get time to meet people until later after the meal. I tend to recommend to couples when they ask to book my wedding videography services here in Kilkenny that they should give themselves about 1 hour with their guests before the meal is served as often I have seen couples arrive to the hotel from the photo session only to be rushed into the dining room as its so late and their plans to have the speeches before the meal have to be abandoned.

Getting married is one of life’s biggest events and every couple wants it to be as memorable as possible for all the right reasons.
Now of course there is nothing wrong with a traditional civil ceremony and after all, the most important part of the day is the actual marriage itself, although, I have filmed a lot of Civil ceremony’s In and around Tipperary and Kilkenny and getting hitched in a registrar’s office may not be the most romantic of settings or the day you’ve always dreamed of. The Possibilities are endless there are now more ways than ever for brides and grooms to mark their special day and these alternative ceremonies are becoming ever more popular around the world and especially in Ireland
A ‘knot tying’ ceremony
One of the most unique alternatives is known as a ‘knot-tying’ ceremony. Here, the couple can demonstrate their combined strength by tying a fisherman’s knot. Getting tighter with pressure this knot is meant to signify a couple’s strength. Ideally the material used in this ceremony should have some significance, for example a strip of cloth from the dress that the bride wore on the first date if possible. Every ceremony is unique so it is entirely up to the happy couple but this is certainly one idea which is becoming more popular.
Other alternatives

Another alternative which is becoming increasingly popular is a sand ceremony. In this ceremony, the couple mix two different colours of sand into one container which symbolises their hearts and lives becoming entwined. The fact that it is extremely difficult to separate the two colours once they have been mixed is also highly significant as this is a reflection of the couple being joined together and unable to be separated.
A water ceremony works in much the same way as a sand ceremony with each partner having a container of coloured water which is unique to them and then pouring it into one joint container, therefore symbolising unity and togetherness.
